MyLa and EdLink Security
- All PK-12 public and charter school staff, Non-Public school staff, Early Childhood staff, and external partners needing access through the EdLink Security system must have an activated MyLa account. MyLa is the system used to create your EdLink Security login credentials—your MyLa user ID and password will serve as your username and password for EdLink Security.
- Guidance to create your EdLink Security user ID and password through MyLa: MyLa: Creating Your Account
- MyLa is an enterprise user ID and password solution available to all state agencies in Louisiana, not just the LDOE.
- PK-12 public or charter school users who need help specifically with the My.La.gov application should seek assistance first from their District Security Coordinator.
- K-12 District Security Coordinators can submit a ticket on behalf of school staff to the LDOE Data System Support.
- Non-public school staff users needing help with MyLa should submit a ticket to the LDOE Data System Support.
- Early Childhood school staff users needing help with MyLa should submit a ticket to the EC EdLink Support System.
- External Partners needing help with MyLa should submit a ticket to the LDOE Data System Support.

Error Message: Active Staff Record Required
Q: I have created and activated my MyLa user account; however, when I try to log in to EdLink Security, I receive an error message stating, “Active Staff Record Required.”
A: You must create an EdLink User Profile to link your MyLa user ID to your Staff ID.
New EdLink Users: Automatically link your MyLa user ID and Staff ID following the appropriate guide below:
EC Staff: Create an EdLink User Profile
NP Staff: Create an EdLink User Profile
PK-12 Public School Staff: Create an EdLink User Profile
External Partners who need a Staff ID should complete this form. The ID Management team will then create your Staff ID.
Cannot Create an EdLink User Profile
Q: I have created my MyLa account, but I am unable to sign in to the EdLink Ops Portal to create my EdLink User Profile.
A: You must activate your MyLa account. Your MyLa account must be activated by clicking on the link in the email sent after your MyLa account is created to confirm your email address. Failure to do so will result in your inability to access your account in EdLink Security. If you did not receive a verification email, you can request to resend it through MyLa Help.
Can I change my MyLa user ID?
Q: I no longer want to use the user ID I created in MyLa. Can I delete this user ID?
A: No. Once created, users CAN NOT CHANGE their user ID.
You can change your password and email address through MyLa, but you cannot change a user ID once it has been created.
If you can no longer access your MyLa account and cannot retrieve your user ID or password, you can create a new MyLa account.
- PK-12 Schools and charter staff must work with the District eScholar Staff ID Manager/Data Manager to update their user ID in their master record.
- The District eScholar Staff ID Manager/Data Manager will need your user ID, which was created at My.La.gov. The District eScholar Staff ID Manager/Data Manager must link your user ID and Staff ID through eScholar Staff ID before you can request permission or access applications in EdLink Security. DO NOT share your password with anyone, including the District Security Coordinator or District eScholar StaffID Manager/Data Manager.
- Early Childhood, Non-Public staff, and External Partners must work with the LDOE eScholar Team to update your user ID for an existing EdLink account.
- Early Childhood: Contact LDOE System Support at EdLinkSupport@la.gov
- Non-Public: LDOE Data System Support
- External Partners: LDOE Data System Support
- You must sign in to EdLink Security with your new user ID credentials to sync the change across systems.
Please note that if you create a new MyLa account, you must use a different email address than the one associated with your existing account. Once the new MyLa account is created and activated through email, you can update your email address through MyLa.

Error Message: Email or User ID is Already in Use
Q: When I tried to create a MyLa account, I got a message that said that my user ID or email address had already been used, but I don’t think I’ve created an account with that user ID or email address.
A: MyLa is an enterprise user ID and password solution available to all state agencies in Louisiana, not just the LDOE. You may have previously used that user ID or email address to create an account, but have forgotten it. If you cannot recover your MyLa credentials through MyLa Help, you must create a new user ID that has not been used before, along with an email address that is not associated with your MyLa account. Once your account is created and verified, you can update your email address to your preferred one, even if it was previously rejected through MyLa Help. You CANNOT change your user ID.
Error Message: Email is not Unique
Q: I had to create a new MyLa account using a personal email address, but when I try to change my email to my school email through MyLa Help, I receive a message stating that my school email is not unique. How can I link my school email to my new MyLa account?
A: Steps to update a MyLa account to your school email account if your school email has already been used to create a MyLa account.
- Resend the verification link through MyLa Help to verify an active MyLa account associated with a district email address.
- If you have forgotten your user ID or password for your active MyLa account tied to a school email, you can send a user ID reminder and/or a password reset link to your school email address through MyLa Help.
- After logging into your account, which is tied to your school email address using your user ID and password, change the email address to a personal email not used on any other MyLa account in the Contact Section.
- A verification link will be sent to your personal email address to confirm the email change.
- Now, log in to the MyLa account you would like to tie to your school email using the user ID and password for that account. Change your email address to your school email in the Contact Section.
- A verification link will be sent to your school email address to confirm the email change.
- This MyLa account is now tied to your school email account.
Account Lock Out
Q: I have been locked out of my MyLa account.
A: MyLa will temporarily lock the account after multiple failed login attempts. The MyLa lockout period is 15 minutes. You should log in after that. Close all the open browsers and open a new Chrome browser to log in again. If you forgot your password, you can reset it through MyLa Help. If you are still locked out after taking the previous steps, contact LDOE Data System Support.
